Two New Pieces by Robert Ward in OMS

Two new pieces by Robert Ward, Principal Horn of the San Francisco Symphony, for brass ensemble, organ and percussion have been added to the IHS Online Music Sales.

Ward, Robert – Sussex Carol Variations for brass ensemble, organ, and percussion
Sussex Carol Variations takes the traditional carol and transforms it six ways, ending in a triumphant “Alleluia” reminiscent of Hindemith’s Mathis Der Maler.

Dukas, Paul (arr. Ward) – Prélude Élégiaque for brass ensemble, organ, and percussion
The Dukas Prélude Élégiaque is an arrangement of the relatively unknown piano work published in 1910. Somewhat impressionistic, it is a gentle piece for brass, organ and percussion.

New Horn Ensemble in OMS

“Once Upon a Time – A Lullaby for Horns” by Joel Ratner has been added to the IHS Online Music Sales

“Once Upon a Time” received its premier performance by the Suffolk County Horn Club at the SCMEA Day of Horn Festival (NY) in January 2014. The sweet, childlike melodic theme is supported with majestic harmonies and an interesting rhythmic structure, all exploiting the lyrical beauty of the horn. Equally appealing for a quartet or larger ensemble, the ballad offers optional harp/keyboard and chime accompaniment parts. The composition is an engaging addition to any concert or recital program.
