Announcing a competition to commission a new, original wind quintet by the consortium of JWQP (Joint Wind Quintet Project): the National Flute Association, the International Double Reed Society, the International Clarinet Association and the International Horn Society.

Call For Advisory Council Nominations
According to the IHS Bylaws, the Advisory Council (AC) is “responsible for carrying out the aims and purposes of the Society and for determining Society policy.” Nine of the fifteen AC members are elected by the IHS membership; the AC elects the others. As you nominate and elect new AC members, remember that these individuals represent a broad spectrum of international horn-related activities.
Thirteen New Theses Added to Library
The IHS Thesis Lending Library now has 167 theses. Thirteen theses were added to the Library this year – 12 were purchased and 1 was donated. The theses are available for IHS members to borrow for a three-week period. The IHS supports this project with an annual budget to purchases theses and for mailing theses upon request. Borrowers submit a refundable deposit of $45 per theses and return them are their own expense. Theses published since 1996 are available in PDF format from the UMI/Proquest website.
Hunting Horn Festival and Workshop
Featuring French Champions Benoist Pipon, Eric Ribot, Jean-Baptiste Serre and Bertrand Bourgeois
The United States chapter of Federation Internationale des Trompes de France, (FITF), is pleased to announce a a week of hunting horn music and a two day workshop in Miami, FL. featuring Champion Trompe players from France and Belgium. Please join us for a weekend of ensemble playing, group tutorials on technique and style, and hear trompe playing by some of the best players in the world. End the weekend by attending a performance of St Hubert Mass at Gesu Catholic Church, Miami's oldest church.
The workshop, co-hosted by Michel de Vallois of Miami, and John Gerber of Chautauqua, NY will be held on Friday and Saturday, November, 12th and 13th. We have specially reserved a block of rooms at the beautiful Sofitel Hotel.
