Ask the Pros correspondent for November and December is Greg Beckwith, Instructor in the Band Instrument Repair Program of Minnesota State College Southeast Technical Institute in Red Wing, MN. Greg is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. He attended Eastman School of Music in New York and The St. Louis Conservatory of Music in Missouri for horn performance. He apprenticed horn building with Daniel Rauch of Rauch Horns, in Oslo, Norway in 1995. He has been the brass-wind repair instructor in the Band Instrument Repair Program since 2003. He continues to freelance on horn in the Twin Cities and plays as an extra with the Minnesota Orchestra when possible.
