Qualifications
BMus(Hons) from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester where I studied with Rebecca Goldberg (specialist in contemporary music, natural and baroque horns) and Julian Plummer (Hallé Orchestra) in addition to receiving regular instruction from Frøydis Ree Wekre and Lizzie Davis
Teaching Experience
I have enjoyed a rich and varied teaching career of over 10 years, in a variety of settings both in the UK and in Germany. I have taught individuals, small groups, brass and wind bands and whole classes, from beginner to advanced level. Posts have included French horn teacher with Tameside and Trafford Music Services in North West England, Horn Teacher with the Neukölln State Music School in Berlin and Brass Teacher at the Berlin International School. I am now focussing on online teaching.
Playing Experience
Over 15 years of experience as a freelance horn player in the UK and in Germany with orchestras, chamber groups and as a soloist with a particular focus on contemporary music. Also very active performer of free improvisation with groups such as the Berlin Improvisers Orchestra. Featured in film recordings and albums of singer-songwriters, in the horn section of Hunting Island, a jazz-influenced folk rock band including with frequent improvised solos. Founding member of Berlin International Brass. Recent highlights include peforming with Kammerakademie Potsdam, Kammerorchester Unter den Linden, Berlin Sinfonietta, Preußisches Kammerorchester and a tour of Germany and Switzlerland with Das Phantom der Oper. Also founding member of Berlin International Brass, with whom have toured Ireland, performed in Poland and Sweden and across Germany.

My lessons combine different methodologies from world-renowned musicians that I have learned from (incl. Caruso Method). I listen carefully to your goals and desires and make complex problems simple, with easy to follow ideas, tips and exercises. I work with you to come up with fun creative ways of improving technique, for example strength across the registers, good breathing, musicality and quality of sound. The main priority is to help you connect to your core sound, which is unique to you.
