The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis and the Memphis Horns have several openings for Undergraduate Assistantships, Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships. All degrees BM, MM, DMA, and Artist Diploma have various forms of assistantships, fellowships, and scholarships attached. Undergraduate Scheidt Chamber Players will receive 4 year fellowships and be members of the premiere woodwind and brass quintet (2 horn positions). In addition to the tuition coverage, hornists will work with guest artists, assist with national and international competitions, have recording studio access, and have a multitude of performance opportunities. This program is created to strengthen the focus and importance of chamber music, and to emphasize a successful, creative career in music. The Memphis Horns studio is a diverse and welcoming studio representing students from all cultures, backgrounds, and identities. We have students from multiple states, countries, and pursuing a variety of degrees. With weekly studio class, excerpt class, horn choir, and private lessons with Dr. Fant, you will get about 6 hours a week in one-on-one time with Professor Fant.
