IDEA OF THE FESTIVAL:

corno logoThe CORNO Brass Festival is an unique event comprising master classes, chamber concerts, lectures, exhibitions of instruments, individual and group lessons, tuition for both professional as well as hobby musicians, number of events opened for the audience, which will take place in diverse venues of the cities of Zielona Góra and Żagań. The Festival will feature outstanding and world-renowned musicians, wide and diversified audience and shall be the promotion of the beautiful city of Zielona Góra.

ORGANIZERS:

Three young citizens of Zielona Góra organize the Festival. They all started their musical education in the horn class of Iwan Moroz. It’s here, in Zielona Góra, where they found and developed their interest in music. After a few years of musical education at the leading European Conservatories, where they studied with some of the best tutors, they decided to come back to their hometown to share their knowledge and experience with the young generation.

19:00 – Museum of Lubusz Region Stained-glass Chamber Hall

All orchestral brass instruments will be presented during this concert. French horn, trumpet, trombone and tuba artists will perform solo and with piano. Special guest will be winner of the 3rd Prize of 8th International Brass Instruments Competition in Gdańsk 2017 and 3rd Prize of Prague Spring International Music Competition 2018.

Tuesday, 28.08.2018

19:00 – Zielona Góra Philharmonic, Chamber Hall

Chamber concert of two horn ensembles: Virtuoso Horn Duo – which consists of the world-famous French horn player and composer, member of the legendary American Horn Quartet Kerry Turner, and Kristina Mascher–Turner, former solo horn of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra; and the Hornet Quartet (Gabriel Czopka, Michał Szczerba, Łukasz Łacny, Piotr Kowalski )  – one of the most active horn quartets in Poland and winners of the 1st Prize in the horn quartet competition during the IHS Symposium in Natal, Brasil.

Wioletta Fluda will be the pianist for this program.

The international ensemble, outstanding artistic level, and sophisticated repertoire guarantee that you will spend a beautiful evening with the music of Astor Piazzolla. The ensemble successfully performs around the world; they were also guests at the first CORNO – brass music festival in 2017. We invite you to a musical journey with Argentinian tango.

 Some of the main artists of the festival will perform well-known pieces of film and entertainment music with the accompaniment of the Festival Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Iwan Moroz.

This will be a symphonic concert with prominent artists of the festival and the Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Jeremy Leidhecker. The Repertoire of the concert will include pieces of the Baroque and Classical period.

The final concert of the CORNO – Brass Music Festival!
Soloists, tutors and lecturers of the festival will create an ensemble of 13 artists and will perform the most popular pieces by Leonard Bernstein. West Side Story, Candide Overture, and Blues from Divertimento are only a foretaste of the whole event. The concert is connected with the International Leonard Bernstein year and the 100th Anniversary of the composer’s Birthday.
