Other Details: If you are looking for a premium horn with the classic European sound without breaking the bank, look no further. For sale is a Vintage Hans Hoyer 103 Double French Horn. This is an exceptional and very unusual horn, hand built by Hans Hoyer immediately following WWII using the orignal pre-war design. This horn was recently resurrected by Chuck Ward; the valves were rebuilt, the thumb trigger was rebuilt for improved ergonomics, several braces were moved to optimize resonance, the bell was cut, and a very small and attractive patch was installed to reinforce the seam at the flare. This horn plays securely and with a honey-like warmth into the extreme high register appropriate for Bach and and provides the rich, molten low register necessary for Shostakovich and Mahler.

I’m sad to see this horn go, but a career change is necessitating some downsizing. Purchase is inclusive of a Marcus Bonna MB-5 case, pictured above. Buyer pays shipping.
