Other Details: For sale, a barely used, nearly new Atkinson Kruspe AK1930.

For this model, Atkinson copied the dimensions of the original Kruspe “Walter Kruspe” or “New Symphony” model, revived some design features not seen very often outside of these vintage horns (for example, the squared off bends of the tuning slides, and the all-brass construction).

The result is a really unique-playing horn with a nice mix of the desirable qualities of Geyer-style and Kruspe horns.

What I like most about this instrument is the complex sound and the variety of tone colors the horn is capable of. It’s rather unlike any other horn I own, but flexible enough to allow you to blend in with a variety of different sections.

I rarely buy new horns, so this one was a bit of a shot in the dark for me. Ultimately the horn I was playing on before is still a better fit for me in terms of feel, but this is a really fine American horn with a unique design that I think will make its new owner happy.
