Other Details: Rare vintage gem! The King Eroica Model 2270 was made by Conn/King Co. in the 1970s and early '80s. It was designed, developed and produced under renowned master horn builder George McCracken, currently building custom horns priced at up to $20,000 and more (see mccrackenhorns.com). The Eroica is distinctive for its open, free-blowing design and its extra large bell throat and flare. This horn has seen much musical use and glory in its day, but has much more yet to give. It was recently repaired/refurbished including re-solder as needed, dents removed, fresh lacquer, and finishing touches-- even ultrasonically cleaned. It would make a wonderful horn for high school or college students, and even adults returning to their earlier musical roots. The older molded solid bell case is plain but serviceable. The middle and high registers ring crystal clear at up to high B and C. The lower registers are mellow and solid. Articulation is crisp. Slurs are smooth and even.
