I just got a newly-commissioned piece for our orchestra, It calls for a "ball mute". What is that?

It's essentially a harmon mute. No such thing for horn.

Years ago I got to play Ligeti's Aventures. In it he called for a vase or something in the bell. I had this round glass vase with a small hole in it that I could roll around and get some really cool sounds! :blink:
