Hi horn players! As the new director of brass studies at NYU I want to share this announcement with you:
The 2013 NYU Brass Summer Workshop will take place June 24–28 on NYU's Greenwich Village campus. Classes will be led by NYU faculty, some of New York's foremost brass players. This year's seminar will include chamber music, brass choir, orchestral repertoire, and solo readings with piano. A special feature this year will be studying and rehearsing music from a hit Broadway show, culminating in attending a performance of that show. Faculty this year include trumpeter Tom Hoyt (Wicked), hornist Ann Ellsworth (solo and chamber music artist who will have a CD release party one night that week), Tom Hutchinson (principal trombone of NY City Opera), tubist Marcus Rojas (Spiderman, jazz artist), and Martha Locker, New York's most sought after collaborative pianist. Time will be built into the schedule to allow exploration of NYC and its incredible history, music, and cultural opportunities. Workshop participants will perform in a final evening concert in one of NYU's concert venues. The application deadline is May 1. For more information please visit our website. Thanks! John Rojak (bass trombone, but I try to blend with the conical brass!)
