David Cronin’s Thrashing the Sun for Horn, Percussion, Keyboard, and Bass has been added to the IHS Online Music Sales.

Thrashing the Siren was written during the late part of 2010 into early 2011 and is inspired by the stories of the Sirens in Greek Mythology. The Sirens were divine bird-women whose enchanted singing would lure sailors to their island. Many ships would wreck on the islands rocky coast, but those who made it ashore were so bewitched by the Sirens song that they would refuse to leave and ultimately die of starvation.

Daughter of the Muse
Who knows both past and future
Sing your potent song.
Your feathers stolen
Stay idle in your meadow
Among silent guests.
They have heard your tune
And cannot leave – for men
Your song ends in death.
