The International Horn Society is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Hatfield on July 4, 2020. An extraordinary musician and horn player, a dedicated and inspiring teacher, Michael Hatfield's life and career was a shining example of service; service to his orchestras, his students and colleagues, his academic institutions, his summer festivals and camps, and also to the International Horn Society. A regular feature at IHS Annual Symposia, he served the IHS in two terms on the Advisory Council, was awarded the Punto Award in 2003, and was named and Honorary Member in 2006. His was a long, storied, and influential career, and he will be greatly missed by all. The IHS will be honoring Michael Hatfield in the upcoming October Horn Call.
