Philip F. Farkas (1914-1992) PDF Print

Philip FarkasSolo Hornist: Chicago, Boston, Cleveland and Kansas City orchestras. Instructor: Indiana University, Northwestern University, Cleveland Institute, Kansas City Conservatory, DePaul University & Roosevelt University.

Among Farkas' other accomplishments and attributes: designing the Farkas Model Horn and a collection of mouthpieces for the Holton Co., his inspired teaching, clearly explained pedagogical texts, and his warm and caring personality. His book The Art of French Horn Playing has been called the "bible of horn-players."

Deceased Honorary and Co-Founding IHS Member, USA.

Major publications include: The Art of French Horn Playing, The Art of Brass Playing, and The Art of Musicianship.
