The Illinois State University School of Music anticipates a Horn Studio Graduate Assistantship Vacancy for August 2012. Non-Studio Graduate Assistantships & Tuition Waivers for hornists are currently available. Stipend is $7,650. per year plus a full Tuition Waiver worth $11,414. per year for non-residents. Duties In addition to performing in a graduate brass or woodwind quintet and large ensemble, other duties may include assisting with Horn Choir and Master Class, coaching student chamber ensembles, classroom teaching or audio recording, depending on the candidate's interests, experience and the needs of the School of Music. Additional performance opportunities may be available in several regional orchestras. The Horn Studio at Illinois State University Current enrollment is 18 students. All students receive 1 hr. lessons and meet horn class/horn choir twice per week. The Illinois State University Horn Choir performs on campus several times each semester. Former guest artists include Hermann Baumann, Barry Tuckwell, Gail Williams, Frøydis Wekre, Eric Ruske, Martin Hackleman, Jesse McCormick, hornists from the Philadelphia Orchestra, Paris Opera, and the St. Louis, Houston, Baltimore and National Symphonies and hornists with the U.S. Marine, Army, and Navy Bands have presented Recitals, Concerts and Master Classes at ISU.
